The Saudi Electric Company (SEC) offers customers tips along
with methods and techniques for optimal use of electricity through its company
website and Alkahraba application on social media.

Its goal is to educate
consumers through these channels. The company hopes to use these messages to deepen the
understanding of balanced consumption of electric power among all consumers.
Customers need to know about following and applying standards and mechanisms
that contribute to reducing energy bills.

Consumers should understand that to save energy and money,
they should not run lights that are unneeded. Additionally, consumers should
leave proper space — 15 centimeters — between the refrigerator and the wall.
Doing this raises the efficiency of the appliance’s spin motor and reduces the
burden on it. Yet another tip is to adjust refrigerator temperature to 24
degrees Celsius to reduce power consumption, compared to the 20 degrees at
which most are set.

The company also notes the importance of thermal insulation.
Insulation has a role in power conservation — thermal insulation technology
helps reduce the time required for cooling buildings.

SEC continues to work on developing customer services and
spreading the word to raise awareness of the importance of optimal power use.
