Saudi Electricity Company has introduced a new corporate identity and will now operate under the name Saudi Energy (SE). The rebranding reflects the company’s broader responsibilities within Saudi Arabia’s energy sector and aligns with ongoing changes in the country’s energy landscape, supporting efforts to improve energy supply security and grid reliability as part of Vision 2030.

Eng. Khalid Al-Ghamdi, Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Energy, stated that this transformation is a result of financial, regulatory, and structural reforms initiated since 2020 by the Ministerial Committee for the Restructuring of the Electricity Sector. This committee is chaired by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy. According to Al-Ghamdi, these reforms aim to meet sector objectives and enhance service quality for consumers.

Al-Ghamdi explained that adopting the new identity draws from the company’s history but marks a progression in its role: “We are building on a strong legacy in the electricity sector and moving forward with an identity that reflects our readiness for a more integrated phase. We will continue contributing efficiently to the national energy system and enhancing service reliability, in alignment with the strategic direction of the Ministry of Energy and the objectives of Vision 2030.”

He further noted that this step is intended to present a modern institutional image based on trust, sustainability, and future preparedness while confirming Saudi Energy’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth throughout Saudi Arabia.

The company indicated that its new name signals its expanded function within Saudi Arabia’s energy framework. This includes involvement in developing energy storage projects and systems as well as playing a central role in transforming the energy sector. The focus remains on improving reliability and efficiency by optimizing electricity generation methods, reducing dependence on liquid fuels for enhanced supply security, upgrading transmission networks, increasing local content, attracting investment, and advancing environmental goals.

Saudi Energy emphasized it will maintain continuity under existing regulations across its licensed activities such as generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and power system enablement. The organization aims to strengthen customer focus through its promise “Around you, for you,” which centers customer needs at every level—from individuals to businesses—while continuing digital engagement efforts.

The transition also brings operations closer in line with international standards for managing critical infrastructure. By doing so, Saudi Energy intends to support both operational efficiency improvements and reinforce its contribution toward making Saudi Arabia a leading global hub in energy.
