Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Finance, Mohammed Aljadaan, led the Saudi delegation at the 124th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held on October 5, 2025, in Kuwait.
The session was chaired by Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, who is also serving as Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment. The meeting included finance ministers from all GCC member states and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Officials reviewed several topics focused on advancing financial and economic cooperation among GCC countries. They discussed progress made so far in these areas.
The committee also examined updates from the Customs Union Authority regarding its work program aimed at fulfilling requirements for completing the Customs Union. Additionally, they considered a periodic report on implementing measures under the Gulf Common Market track.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Aljadaan took part in a joint session with GCC finance ministers and central bank governors alongside Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The group discussed an IMF paper titled “Enhancing Resilience to Global Shocks: Economic Prospects and Political Challenges for the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (2025).”
