The Saudi Ministry of Finance hosted a group from Harvard Business School at its headquarters in Riyadh on January 7, 2026. The visit included both students and faculty members and was attended by the Minister of Finance, Mohammed Aljadaan.
This meeting is part of the Ministry’s efforts to engage with prominent international academic institutions and present the country’s ongoing economic changes. During his remarks, Aljadaan stated, “not because it is easy, but because it is hard,” referring to the Kingdom’s decision to pursue national transformation. He described this choice as an opportunity to invest in local talent and work toward lasting prosperity.
Aljadaan discussed how Saudi Arabia’s economy has shifted significantly and now ranks among the top 20 economies globally. He also highlighted the Ministry’s role in promoting fiscal sustainability and developing systems that ensure efficient government spending while supporting sectors beyond oil. According to Aljadaan, these reforms are intended “to finance innovation, empower youth, and build a robust and resilient financial system capable of addressing global challenges,” making Saudi Arabia more appealing for international investment and expertise.
The event is one of several initiatives by the Ministry aimed at building knowledge partnerships with leading academic organizations worldwide. These partnerships are designed to encourage the exchange of expertise and reinforce Saudi Arabia’s position as a major player in the global economy.
