Dr. Turki Abalala, Saudi Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations Policies and Consultations, attended the 2026 Financing for Development Forum organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council at the United Nations headquarters in New York from April 20 to 24.

The forum brought together high-level representatives from member states and international organizations to discuss ways to address ongoing global economic and development challenges. The event focused on strengthening collective international action to support sustainable development.

During his remarks, Dr. Abalala said that Saudi Arabia plays a leading role in supporting international efforts aimed at advancing sustainable development. He stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation among nations to meet current challenges and improve pathways toward development.

Dr. Abalala also said that Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting sustainable growth for all countries, with particular attention given to those affected by conflict. He explained that enabling these countries to meet their essential needs is crucial for fostering broader prosperity.

At the end of his participation, Dr. Abalala reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment “to continuing its constructive role in supporting international efforts to further develop the global economic and financial system, enhance its stability and efficiency, and advance sustainable development at both regional and international levels.”
