The Saudi G20 Sherpa Office, part of the Ministry of Finance, held a workshop on October 5, 2025, to discuss the Kingdom’s participation in the upcoming G20 meetings under South Africa’s presidency. The event was chaired by Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf, Vice Minister of Finance and Saudi G20 Sherpa. Attendees included heads and members of Saudi delegations involved in this year’s G20 meetings as well as representatives from the Saudi Human Rights Commission.

Vice Minister Alkhalaf thanked the Kingdom’s representatives in the G20 working groups for their efforts during the South African presidency. He said, “It is necessary to capitalize on the pivotal role of the G20 as an international platform to strengthen partnerships and expand the horizons of cooperation in various fields, enable the Kingdom to continue its effective participation in the formulation of global economic policies.”

This was the second such workshop, following a similar event held in February. The workshops are intended to support ongoing coordination among 24 public entities involved in representing Saudi Arabia at the 2025 G20 meetings. The aim is to reflect priorities set out by Saudi Vision 2030.

The recent session focused on enhancing cooperation between government agencies as they prepare for discussions within both Sherpa and Finance tracks during South Africa’s presidency. Participants also reviewed current issues raised in working groups and explored ways for member states to collaborate on solutions ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for November 22-23, 2025, in Johannesburg.
