The Economic and Social Council is one of the main bodies within the Arab League. It brings together ministers from member countries who specialize in economic and financial affairs. The Council meets twice each year with goals that include fostering cooperation among member states to advance their economies, make use of natural resources, and encourage bilateral trade. In addition to its regular sessions, it organizes preparatory meetings ahead of Arab summits focused on economic and social matters.
