Riyadh-based Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has extended its partnership with Intelsat S.A., which maintains the world’s first globalized
network from its Luxembourg headquarters, with a contract to deliver satellite
services on Intelsat 15, situated at 85.15 degrees east.

The new agreement enables STC, Saudi Arabia’s largest telecommunications firm which considers
connectivity for corporate customers a high priority, to expand services and develop networks
in banking, government and energy sectors throughout Saudi Arabia and furthers its existing
business relationship with Intelsat, with four satellites currently in use.

“Throughout our long-term relationship, Intelsat has
demonstrated they understand our needs and allow us to advance our business
with growth capacity that seamlessly integrates with our expansive network,” Walid Al Wabel, STC’s general manager, said. “Together, this has enabled
STC’s customers to upgrade and expand the reach of their networks in response
to growing end user demand throughout Saudi Arabia.”

Shahrokh Amiri, Intelsat’s sales director for the Middle
East and North Africa region, said Intelsat plans to work closely with
STC for a smooth transition.

“Our solutions will enable STC to meet current broadband
demands, provide the scale necessary to expand its subscriber base and
ultimately, drive growth for its business … to ensure that more customers
throughout Saudi Arabia have access to the most reliable and high quality
broadband connectivity available in the marketplace,” Amiri said.
