The second phase of the tourism survey initiative, organized
by Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority in partnership with the
eGovernment Authority and the King Fahad Causeway Police Department, has been
launched.
BTEA and eGovernment representatives visited the King Fahad
Causeway, the location of the survey. Workers with the two authorities
monitored the procedures and actions of those conducting the survey and theoretical
training to ensure all processes were compliant with the international
standards set out by the World Tourism Organization.
“We are delighted to partner with the eGovernment Authority
to roll out this tourism survey program, which will enable us to better monitor
and understand the tourism sector and help us in developing plans and
strategies to further boost this sector and contribute towards the development
of the Kingdom,” Huda Al Hamar, chief of tourism planning at the Bahrain Tourism &
Exhibitions Authority, said.
The second phase was initiated, in part, thanks to the
successful collection of data from the first phase. Phase two will take about
12 months to complete, allotting time away from the project during holidays. The
lengthy timeline is to allow the researchers to accurately gather needed data
for the TSA regarding the visitors’ characteristics and tourism spending.
The Tourism Survey Project 2015-2018, which is in line with
the goals of the national tourism strategy, is designed to offer regional
leaders and policy makers needed information to create strategic plans to grow
the tourism industry in Bahrain. The data must offer accurate indicators of
tourists’ habits to allow the best decision for the region.
