A company called Sikkerhetssenteret recently announced
upgrades to a product that will help shipmasters gain training experience.
Its
MarinSim navigational and bridge simulator includes nine Barco F22 WUXGA
projectors and should provide more precise navigation and a lifelike digital experience
for fishing vessels across the world, including in the Middle East.
“We suggested installing a 240-degree spherical screen as that
would give users the feeling that they’re really surrounded by the imaging,
when standing on the bridge,” Malin Hallbeck, key account manager
project:syntropy, said. “The training thus allows for a more precise navigation
closer to objects in the water like the fish harvesting cages. Barco’s F22
projector series is ideal for technically challenging and demanding applications
like this set-up.”
The training room houses the Transas simulator and the
spherical screen, displaying realistic images of nautical routes and waters. A
camera-based audio calibration system helps ensure projection geometry and
color reproduction.
“Both Transas and project:syntropy are long-term Barco
partners and it’s good to see them reaffirming their trust in our simulation
projectors,” Espen Olsen, sales director of training and simulation in western Europe
for Barco, said. “The Rørvik Safety Center is considered a true center of
academic excellence that offers high-quality courses. We are proud that we can
help them take their training to the next level.”
