A six-stage program
that teaches arbitration from basic practicalities to actual practice
is underway through an Abu Dhabi partnership, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of
Commerce reported recently.

The chamber’s Commercial Conciliation
and Arbitration Center (ADCCAC) organized the program in conjunction
with the GCC
Commercial Arbitration Center. Supervised by Magdi Ibrahim Qasem,
executive director of the ADCCAC, the course teaches technical and legal
cadres in the Arab world
to work in arbitration. The secondary goal is to elevate the level of
arbitration in the region.

The first stage, “Arbitration
Agreements and Drafting Controls,” focuses on theories and practicalities of arbitration, while the second concerns arbitration
procedures and the third looks at the arbitration award. Stage four focuses on executing and annulling the awards, stage five
showcases trials, and the final stage involves a practical virtual arbitration
case in front of a panel.

Upon completion of all stages, participants can obtain the necessary
certificates to be registered arbitrators in the list of the
GCC Commercial Arbitration Center.
