The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has teamed up with the Smart Dubai Office to launch a competition for young entrepreneurs interested in turning Dubai into a smart city.

Open to all entrepreneurs in the United Arab Emirates, the Smartpreneur Competition is geared to technology innovations that fall into the categories of living, people, the economy, mobility, environment and governance.

“Young entrepreneurs have an essential role to play in our smart city transformation,” Smart Dubai Office Director General Aisha Bin Bishr said. “The new ideas, products and services contributed by these innovative individuals will improve daily life and enhance our position as a global competitive city, establishing Dubai as a leading smart economy.”

The competition prize of 150,000 (AED) will be distributed among the first three winners. Winners will also have the opportunity to participate in the chamber’s Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development program, created to motivate aspiring entrepreneurs to enter the business world. The program helps individuals advance their business ideas through training and expert advice.

“Innovation is the cornerstone of excellence and growth strategy of Dubai, and the chamber’s strategy is to spearhead creativity and innovation in the private sector by providing innovative programs for the business community as we launch new initiatives to offer excellent services to the customers while strengthening Dubai’s position as the best business destination in the world,” Dubai Chamber Vice Chairman Hisham Al Shirawi said.
