Smile Train, a global organization focused on cleft care, is marking World Smile Day on October 3 by launching a Smile Wall campaign in Dubai. The initiative is being held with support from Dubai Humanitarian and aims to promote connection and raise awareness for children born with cleft lips and palates.
The Smile Wall will be available at several locations, including Dubai Mall from October 2 to 4, Times Square Center from October 3 to 4, and at select university campuses. Members of the public are encouraged to post messages, drawings, or photos about what makes them smile. These contributions will create displays intended to inspire hope and positivity.
“World Smile Day reminds us that a smile can carry incredible meaning,” said Afaf Meky, Executive Manager of Smile Train in Dubai. “Through the Smile Wall campaign, we are grateful for the support of the public and the entities taking part in this initiative. Together, we invite everyone to share moments of joy, celebrate the power of connection, and raise awareness for children born with cleft lips and palates, inspiring a brighter, healthier future for them.”
According to Smile Train, every three minutes a baby is born with a cleft condition that can impact basic functions such as eating, speaking, hearing, and breathing. The organization believes community involvement in campaigns like the Smile Wall helps increase understanding and solidarity with affected families worldwide.
“Dubai Humanitarian is proud to partner with its member, Smile Train, for this initiative,” said Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian. “Through the Smile Wall campaign, we are celebrating the power of smiles to connect people and bring communities together. By raising awareness about children born with cleft lips and palates, we hope to inspire empathy, understanding, and shared joy. From the heart of Dubai, this collaboration reminds us that even simple acts, like sharing a smile, can create moments of happiness and a sense of unity that touches lives everywhere.”
