A campus-wide fundraiser was hosted by several Arabic &
Emirati Studies (AES) students at the HCT-Sharjah Women’s College (SWC) in
support of the Reading Nation Ramadan campaign on June 23.

UAE Prime Minister Mohammed Al Maktoum originated the
charitable campaign on day one of the holy month of Ramadan. The purpose of the
Reading Nation Ramadan campaign is to develop 2,000 libraries in schools across
the globe and to provide disadvantaged children in refugee camps with five
million books to encourage reading.

Faculty and staff with SWC took part in the fundraising
event and were happy to donate alongside the students. Students who organized
the event were pleased with the turnout and happy to put together a campus
event that supported others in such a worthy cause.

Dr. Najeya Alkharji, Arabic faculty, supervised the
fundraiser event.
