Qatar National Research Fund recently awarded five Undergraduate
Research Experience Program (UREP) grants to Texas A&M at Qatar, marking the 19th cycle of the UREP grants program.
Sixteen undergraduate students will have the opportunity to
take part in the projects, which are designed to enhance the students’ academic
experience and learning.
A number of scholars serve as mentors of the projects
including, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hashimi, Dr. Hassan Bazzi, Dr. Othmane Bouhali, Dr.
Sherzod Madrahimov, Dr. Praveen Manyam, Maya Akl and Dr. Mahmood
Amani, recipient of two awarded UREP projects.
Bazzi, who also fills the role of assistant dean of
students, said the projects add to the students’ education and training. For
many, UREP projects lead to further advancement for students in the way of
presenting their work in conferences, winning additional research awards and publishing
writings in well-respected journals.
