Thuraya Telecommunications,
a leader in mobile satellite services, recently announced new progress made in
satellite phone capability by unveiling the first Dual SIM dual-mode phone
worldwide.

 

“The XT-Pro Dual represents
a breakthrough in convergence is the best satellite phone in the world: its
capacity double and Dual SIM mode allows unprecedented flexibility, which opens
new levels of value for end users,” Bilal Hamoui, commercial director of
Thuraya, said. “Once again, driven by market demands, Thuraya has taken a big step
forward in the capacity of satellite communications.”

 

The Thuraya XT-Pro Dual was
made to bridge satellite and terrestrial communication gaps. It should allow
users to enter and exit land cover without losing phone service. One of its SIM
slots is dedicated to satellite communications; one is dedicated to GSM
communications.

 

“The satellite phone technology
just improved a lot,” Hamoui said. “It had never before offered the end user
much flexibility, convenience and value.”
