The College of Business and Texas
A&M are collaborating on a project to offer a tourism course.

The
department of tourism and hospitality, College of Business Administration, Umm
Al-Qura University and the department of recreation, parks and tourism sciences
at Texas A&M are partnering to develop academic offerings that fall in
line with the kingdom’s Vision 2030.

As part of that effort, the UQU president has called for continuous
improvements to the quality and offerings of the education provided to students
of the College of Business Administration (BA). The college consistently
strives to meet the accreditation standards of international
commissions like AACSB and EFMD.

A team of academics will lead
the first tourism course, which will be offered during the current academic
semester. Working together on the course will be Dean Sultan Al-Bugami; College
Vice Dean for Educational Affairs Ahmed Al-Qarni; lecturer Sultan Al-Harbi,
who is presently on scholarship at Texas University; and Head of the Tourism
and Hospitality Department in the College Yosri Nabil. The team has
communicated with the American university of advanced ranking in tourism
sciences to formulate the lecturer materials.

The course will strive to teach
students of both colleges with a flavor from both the kingdom and the U.S. to help them best comprehend cultures and principals of the Saudi and American
societies and to paint a vivid image of the Saudi region.
