Oman’s Ministry of Tourism, in conjunction with the Tanfeedh Delivery Unit, recently organized a comprehensive orientation session for the working groups that have been set up to implement the Tanfeedh tourism lab outcome.

Tanfeedh is
Oman’s national program working to enhance economic diversification. The country has been holding
workshops and labs to develop initiatives to diversify, and one
of the key focuses is tourism.

This stage
of the Tanfeedh program comes after six-week lab sessions in which
participants put together detailed analyses of 15 tourism initiatives, and the governance structure for Tanfeedh was then put into place. Ahmed Al Mahrizi, the
minister of tourism, is leading a steering committee to oversee the execution process of all of these initiatives.

The
steering committee will meet on a monthly basis about tourism initiatives
and be in close contact with the Implementation and Follow-Up Unit, which
is chaired by Khamis Al Jabri. Another key group in the process is the
Ministry Delivery Unit, which will be broken into four groups to oversee the actual
execution. The groups are composed of public and private
sector executives.
