During a recent meeting of
the Saudi-Turkish Business Council, Turkish Minister of Development Lüfti Elvan
talked about possible economic integration between Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Elvan praised Saudi
leadership for their response to the failed coup d’état in Turkey, saying that
it showcases the aligning policies of both countries on various issues.
However, trade between the two countries has been substandard, Elvan noted. His
idea for improving trade is to create joint industries and automotive and
spare parts factories with the help of Turkish technologies, instead of
importing these industries from abroad.
Secretary General of the
Council of Saudi Chambers Omar Bahlaiwa, for his part, pointed to Saudi Vision
2030 and how it offers enticements for foreign investments in the form of
loans, lands and large market.
Chairperson of the
Saudi-Turkish Business Council Mazen Rajab talked about good political
relations between the two countries, noting that joint investment had reached
close to $7 billion in sectors such as energy, banking, real estate and
manufacturing.
