Carnegie Mellon Qatar (CMU-Q) recently announced that two
students from Pittsburgh are wrapping up their semester in Doha as part of the
Campus Exchange program.
Nicole Matamala, who studied programming, will now pursue
computational biology to continue exploring computer science.
“At the Pittsburgh campus, some classes have 200 students in
a lecture hall. Here, the classes are so small it feels like private tutoring.
I got so much out of my time here,” Matamala said.
Abdusamed Sherif, a junior majoring in information systems,
enjoyed CMU-Q’s diversity. He started the Young
African Leaders Association at CMU-Q as a way to network with other African
students and share African culture with the community.
“At CMU-Q, I had the opportunity
to be immersed in a new culture while also interacting with different types of
people from a large international crowd. I was really welcomed by the CMU-Q
community,” Sherif said.
Carnegie Mellon runs the Campus Exchange program as a way
for students in both Qatar and Pittsburgh to explore differing perspectives of
the university and of the world.
