Leaders from Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates Chambers of Commerce and Industry recently discussed expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, including fostering joint investments in companies operating in both nations.

Mohammed Thani Murshid Al-Rumaithi, chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and
Industry and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, hosted Husin Bagis, Indonesia’s ambassador to the UAE, for the meeting at the Chamber’s tower in Abu Dhabi.

“Indonesia is an important trade partner to
the UAE and Abu Dhabi,” Al-Rumaithi said. “However, trade figures between the
two sides do not reflect the available capabilities they possess, especially in
the areas which Abu Dhabi focuses on in its plan and economic vision including
the industrial sector, tourism, services, healthcare and education.”

Al-Rumaithi highlighted the existing ties
between Indonesia and the UAE as well as the particularly strong ties between
the country and Abu Dhabi. Bagis acknowledged these ties and called for further
Emirati investments in Indonesia. He emphasized Indonesia’s strong tourism,
infrastructure and transport sectors and the country’s status as a G-20 nation
with regional and international businesses represented within its borders.
