Modern technologies are increasingly central to integrating People of Determination into society, offering them equal opportunities in education, employment, and services. These advancements enhance their independence and quality of life while enabling full participation in sustainable development.

The UAE has developed a model for empowering People of Determination by ensuring access to opportunities and resources. This approach aligns with the Year of the Community 2025 initiative under the slogan ‘Hand in Hand’, which underscores leadership’s commitment to social well-being and family cohesion. “As part of our social responsibility,” initiatives like the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum aim to create an inclusive society.

DEWA utilizes Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as AI and IoT to provide equal access to opportunities for People of Determination. This is consistent with the Dubai Social Agenda D33, fostering their contribution to sustainable development. DEWA supports these efforts through adherence to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, particularly Article Nine.

Significant achievements include DEWA receiving the Golden Certificate ‘Accessible UNI’ for ten buildings equipped with smart systems facilitating movement for employees and customers with disabilities. DEWA has also developed inclusive digital services like an accessible website and smart app, an AI-powered digital sign language interpreter, and customer communication services such as ‘Ash’ir’, ‘Hayak’, ‘Rammas’, and Smart Response service.

Smart technologies have expedited efforts towards integration, resulting in 100% employee happiness among People of Determination last year and about 98% customer satisfaction. Digital solutions continue to provide new opportunities for their growth within more inclusive communities.
