The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy recently
hosted students from the University of North Florida undergoing a study tour of
the UAE in coordination with the University of Dubai.

During the meeting, the students learned about the prominent
indicators of the UAE’s economic performance. Additionally, they were briefed
on the UAE National Agenda 2021, which lays out future directions and priority
sectors.

Hind Al Youha, director of foreign trade policies at the ministry’s Foreign Trade Sector, presented the government’s goals in supporting
the growth of a sustainable and competitive economy. She noted that renewable
energy, transport, health, education, technology, water and space are key
priority sectors.

Al Youha also talked about entrepreneurship and small- and
medium-size enterprises (SMEs). She stated that these are top priorities for
the government as it works to diversify the country’s economic base.

The ministry’s Dubai office and University of Dubai helped accommodate
the visitors, which included 14 students from different faculties in the
University of North Florida. Accompanying the students were professors and a
representative from the University of Dubai.

University of North Florida Professor Jeffrey Michelman
noted his admiration of the UAE’s achievements in several global indices related
to the ease of doing business in the country.
