UAE president forms Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority

Through a decree from

United Arab Emirates

President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA) under the UAE Cabinet has been formed.

The new authority will be headquartered in Dubai and will take the places of the National Bureau of Statistics and the Emirates Competitiveness Council. It will perform the functions of both those bodies.

The focus of the authority will be to strengthen the UAE’s position across all global competitiveness indicators and to promote sustainable development across the nation. The office will also organize and manage the UAE’s statistics and competitiveness sectors and will develop an integrated national statistical system.

The new authority was formed in keeping with the goals of UAE Vision 2021, a plan to improve the UAE.
The FCSA will also provide training and support to all government entities.

Minister of State

Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi was chosen to chair the authority. The board will include representatives from the Executive Councils in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Diwan Al Amiri in Fujairah, Ministry of Interior and the Supreme National Security Council.
