British Orchard Nursery, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) chain of private preschools, was recently honored with a pair of international awards in recognition of its groundbreaking and forward-thinking early childhood education practices.

The nursery’s vision is to be a global leader in preschool education using internationally recognized best practice standards. With eight different branches, British Orchard is the UAE’s largest nursery school chain. The recent prestigious recognitions also make it the most awarded nursery chain in the Emirates.

British Orchard won the Golden Peacock Global Award for Innovation Management and a European Assembly Socrates award in recognition of Intellectual Development of Society.

The Golden Peacock Awards ceremony was held in London, with British Orchard standing among major global companies such as General Motors, Dubai Customs, Tata Motors and London Stock Exchange among others.

British Orchard Nursery also received the European Assembly Socrates Award in France for its outstanding successes in business, economy and social progress.

Nominees for that award included politicians, business executives and scientists. The Socrates awards honor those whose work helps further the economic, scientific and cultural development of society.

The nominees were primarily assessed by the Socrates Awards Committee at Oxford in the UK, which represents leaders within the business, education and science international communities.

Founder and CEO of British Orchard Nursery Vandana Gandhi said that teaching is in itself a rewarding experience, but he was still grateful for the awards.

“In this day and age, schooling requires more than conventional methods of learning, and we need to keep revising our teaching methods to keep up with the times,” Gandhi said. “Schools need to design innovative ways to keep the students’ interest afloat and to make the lessons enjoyable. We should realize that children respond far more positively to imaginative means of learning, yielding far better results. I take pride in the fact that at British Orchard Nursery we constantly find new ways to appeal to students, making sure that their time at school is relaxed, happy and worthwhile.”
