UAE mGovernment, the United Arab Emirates’ official government Web portal, recently unveiled a fresh new design and is offering services previously unavailable online.

The changes were in response to various suggestions from the public that mGovernment administrators received through a special discussion forum on the UAE government’s blog. Social media platforms also played a role with recommendations coming in on the government’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

With numerous calls for an updated portal, mGovernment Director General Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori initiated a public survey on the portal to measure what kinds of services and designs would be most popular among UAE citizens.

To encourage participation in the survey process, five awards were offered for the best developmental proposals for portal content, design and services. Many changes already have been made to the design, but the questionnaire is still up on the site to ensure continual improvement.

“We want to receive the largest possible number of comments and responses, and we promise users of the official government portal that their comments will reach our teams who will then work on analyzing the public’s feedback,” Al Mansoori said. “As such, turning it into practical recommendations and programs to improve the performance and development of e-services. We are confident that users are the best stakeholders to express their needs and expectations with regard to mGovernment.”

The portal’s new layout and color scheme is intended to reflect the national identity of the UAE. Visit the site at government.ae.
