The College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University recently held a seminar to educate students on the danger of drugs.

The seminar focused on the Hemaya program that raises awareness about harmful effects drug abuse has on both the individual and society, of which the latter possess risks on multiple levels including economic and social. The program offers ways to combat drug abuse across 17 countries and the drug dangers are disseminated throughout the local, regional and international community.

Seminar attendees learned about how drugs are smuggled into communities, the hazardous impact the drug trade has on societies, and how the promotion of cultural and moral values can aid in the fight against drug abuse.

The seminar falls in line with UAE University’s mission and vision to serve the community by teaching young individuals about the dangers of drugs and therefore protecting future generations. In an effort to achieve a drug-free society, the university researches the latest studies pertaining to drug abuse and works with law enforcement authorities.

Among the attendees at the drug abuse prevention seminar were students, faculty members, College of Law Dean Mohammed Hassan and Hemaya Program General Coordinator Ibrahim Al Dabal.
