Volkswagen has appointed Andrew Savvas as brand director to head the company’s Middle East operations.

Savvas will be based at the automotive manufacturer’s regional headquarters in the United Arab Emirates. He most recently worked as Volkswagen’s general manager of sales and network development in Australia.

Savvas has more than 16 years of experience in the automotive industry. He joins the Middle East team to take over for outgoing Managing Director Thomas Milz.

“The Middle East region offers new challenges and opportunities: there is a strong sense of purpose, energy and positivity amongst business leaders and consumers alike,” Savvas said.

He also noted that the industry is going through a challenging shift.

“Mr. Milz leaves Volkswagen’s Middle East operations in a strong position, with a solid retail network across nine countries,” Savvas said. “My focus will be on our customers and strengthening our world-class customer experience delivering service excellence, a strong and diverse model range, affordable yet innovative technology and total transparency and care in the treatment of our customers. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead — to make my mark on what is already a well-established brand in the region.”
