VPS Healthcare, an integrated health care provider, has opened its third International Oncology Conference under the theme “Navigating Cancer Care by Early Detection and Prevention.”

Approximately 900 people attended the two-day event at the

Abu Dhabi

Ritz-Carton. Thirty-five experts from 15 countries presented their work during the conference, which included a keynote session led by Nobel Laureate Barry Marshall.

“Cancer poses a plethora of challenges — psychological, emotional, social, logistical and financial — to cancer patients and their families,”

Conference President and Managing Director Shamsheer Vayalil said. “However, recognition of early warning signs tremendously increases a positive outcome and survival rates.”

With a multidisciplinary approach, the conference provided an opportunity for all delegates to keep pace with knowledge about clinical pathway, bio-markers, advanced imaging techniques, genomic technology, pharmacological advances, immune checkpoint inhibitors, smoking cessation, fertility preservation and smart after care in cancer patients.

The next International Oncology Conference will take place Sept. 29-30, 2016.
