Personnel at APM Terminals Bahrain recently achieved Green Belt status through the Lean Six Sigma program, a business initiative focused on using a collaborative team approach to reduce and eliminate waste in the areas of time, inventory, motion, waiting, overproduction, overprocessing, defects and skills.

There are four levels in Six Sigma methodology; the Green Belt is the second tier.
APM Terminals Bahrain also oversees operations of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port.

“As operators of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port, our strategy is to continuously ensure that customer satisfaction is our primary focus,”  APM Terminals Bahrain Managing Director

Mark Hardiman said.

So far, more than 30 APM Terminals Bahrain workers have received Six Sigma certification. Two of those employees have earned the highest Six Sigma designation, the Black Belt.

Hardiman said Six Sigma’s processes were “in line with our general continuous improvement approach when it comes to running our port operations.”

APM Terminals Bahrain employees participated in the Lean Six Sigma project in an effort to improve container freight shed (CFS) methods.

Presently, 50 projects aimed at improving processes and customer service are underway at APM Terminals Bahrain.
