The World Green Economy Summit (WGES) will hold its 11th edition on October 1-2, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event is organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO). It is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The summit aims to address current climate and economic challenges by promoting a transition to a green economy. It brings together decision-makers, experts, and innovators from around the world to discuss practical solutions for sustainability.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of WGEO said: “In line with the vision and directives of the wise leadership, Dubai continues its mission to build a more sustainable future through the World Green Economy Summit, which has become a prestigious international platform that brings together decision-makers, experts and innovators from around the world to exchange views and launch pioneering initiatives and partnerships. Since its inception, the summit has contributed to developing practical solutions that have advanced the green transition regionally and globally, consolidating the UAE’s position as a beacon of sustainability and a hub for constructive dialogue and joint action. The 11th edition of the summit will address integrated aspects that reflect the inclusiveness of the green economy and enhance Dubai’s position as a global bridge linking climate ambitions with economic opportunities, as well as a role model for transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and prosperity.”

This year’s theme is ‘Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy’. The agenda includes seven main pillars: technology and innovation; clean and renewable energy technologies; policy and regulation; finance; climate equity; climate adaptation and resilience; youth in climate action.

The technology pillar will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), digital solutions for sustainability, energy efficiency improvements, renewable integration strategies, predictive analytics for environmental risk reduction, carbon emissions monitoring technologies, innovation in energy storage systems, public-private cooperation in technology development projects.

Clean energy discussions will cover renewable sources’ reliability enhancement efforts such as round-the-clock supply strategies. Other topics include building an economy based on green hydrogen fuel alternatives as well as securing minerals needed for renewables production from sustainable sources.

Policy sessions will look at evolving legislative frameworks required for supporting green economies while balancing priorities like energy security or industrial competitiveness. These discussions also include expanding global carbon markets along with private sector involvement in shaping regulations.

Finance panels are set to explore investment mobilization strategies involving private capital aligned with international climate goals alongside roles played by financial institutions in closing funding gaps.

Climate equity topics will examine ways to ensure fair access to resources across societies affected differently by environmental crises such as droughts or floods. Innovative agricultural practices using AI or solar power are among proposed solutions.

Adaptation sessions plan to review nature-based approaches like ecosystem restoration or coastal protection measures while highlighting early warning systems’ role in disaster risk reduction.

Youth engagement remains central this year—sessions aim to showcase young people’s contributions through entrepreneurship or voluntary initiatives driving sustainability projects forward nationally as well as globally.
