The World Green Economy Summit (WGES) 2025 will take place on October 1-2 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), will focus on “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.”
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, WGES aims to address climate security by offering practical solutions to empower societies vulnerable to climate change. This year’s summit will explore modern technologies’ role in supporting developing societies.
The ‘Technology and Innovation’ pillar at WGES 2025 will highlight disruptive Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). These technologies are expected to optimize renewable energy integration, enhance predictive analytics, and improve carbon emissions monitoring. The summit will also cover energy storage solutions and public-private collaboration in green technology development.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of WGEO stated that hosting WGES in Dubai underscores “the UAE’s leading role in advancing global climate action.” He emphasized that ensuring climate security requires integrating efforts with Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in a just manner. “Climate change represents a major threat to developing societies,” he said. “Ensuring climate security for these societies requires integrating efforts…in a just and inclusive manner.”
WGES 2025 intends to accelerate technology transfer to empower developing societies against climate challenges. It advocates for a resilient regulatory environment promoting emerging technology adoption. The summit will stress increasing climate finance for digital infrastructure projects while showcasing successful models in sectors like smart agriculture.
Overall, WGES seeks to integrate emerging technologies into food and water security strategies while reducing risks related to energy supply.
