World Green Economy Summit prepares for its 11th edition focusing on innovation

Since its inception in April 2014, the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) has become a pivotal platform for advancing the transition to a sustainable green economy. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, WGES aligns with the UAE’s efforts in global climate action.

Organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), WGES brings together decision-makers, experts, innovators, and representatives from government organizations, private sectors, and academia worldwide. They gather to discuss policies, exchange expertise, and strengthen partnerships in sustainable development.

The upcoming 11th edition is scheduled for October 1-2, 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the theme “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.” The summit will focus on themes such as technology innovation, renewable energy technologies, policy regulation, finance climate equity adaptation resilience youth climate action.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized that this year’s summit aims to accelerate transitioning to a global green economy by providing solutions addressing climate change supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. “The World Green Economy Summit is a significant milestone in the UAE’s efforts to support global climate action,” he stated.

Past editions have focused on various themes related to empowering global action bridging gaps through collaboration leadership innovation driving change among others each highlighting different aspects required achieve sustainability goals net zero targets.

Notable past achievements include launching Global Alliance Green Economy fostering cooperation between countries signing Memorandums Understanding expanding public-private partnerships engaging youths NGOs emphasizing investment clean infrastructure steps foster innovation. Key initiatives showcased include Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park green hydrogen projects among others paving way future conferences summits COP29 beyond.
