Zain Kuwait’s ‘Women in Tech’ initiative reported significant progress in 2025, aiming to support women entering digital and technology roles. The program focused on developing talent, reskilling career pathways, and preparing participants for the digital job market. It also created opportunities for employment, professional growth, and entrepreneurship within the ICT sector.
The initiative is part of Zain Group’s broader corporate sustainability and inclusion strategy. This approach prioritizes investment in human capital, diversity, and the development of national capabilities. By understanding market needs, Zain seeks to help women align their skills with industry requirements.
Training programs targeted female students, graduates, and early-career professionals. These included both technical skills and practical experience designed to bridge academic learning with real-world digital demands. Experts from within Zain contributed through mentoring sessions.
In 2025, over 550 women participated in various tracks and activities under the ‘Women in Tech’ umbrella. The Cyber-She program saw 25 participants graduate with a 100% completion rate. Outcomes included new employment opportunities, professional development advancements, career transitions into technical roles, and attainment of recognized cybersecurity certifications.
A hackathon organized as part of the initiative engaged nine teams and directly impacted 16 female students by supporting entrepreneurial ventures and technical solutions. The event led to tangible results such as the launch of a startup supported by Kuwait University’s incubator and progress toward commercialization for an AI solution developed by students at Gulf University for Science and Technology.
Additional outcomes included two graduates gaining employment, one participant receiving a promotion within her organization, and four individuals moving from business roles into technical positions.
Inclusivity was emphasized by welcoming six female students with special needs into the program. Their participation was supported through adapted learning methods tailored to individual requirements.
Academic partnerships were central to the initiative’s success. Collaborations were established with eight local and international institutions including Kuwait University; Gulf University for Science and Technology; Kuwait College of Science and Technology; Algonquin College Kuwait; Box Hill College Kuwait; Canadian College of Kuwait; Women in Cybersecurity Middle East (WiCSME); EC-Council; and London School of Cybersecurity.
According to Zain officials: “Zain will continue to develop the ‘Women in Tech’ initiative as a sustainable platform for empowering female talent, accelerating digital culture, supporting the innovation ecosystem, and equipping the market with capabilities that contribute to Kuwait’s digital transformation journey.”
