Zain Omantel International (ZOI), a collaboration between Zain Group and Omantel, has received four international awards. The recognition underscores its significant role in the regional and global wholesale telecom industry.

The Carrier Community Global Awards (CCGA) acknowledged ZOI for its innovative approach to integrating terrestrial and subsea infrastructure across eight markets. ZOI was awarded “Best Data Connectivity Innovative Provider of the Year” for enhancing pan-regional connectivity with integrated subsea-terrestrial networks. It also won “Best Subsea Cable Operator of the Year” for its leadership in subsea investments, including participation in G2A, AAE-1, and Oman Australia Cable.

Additionally, ZOI was named “Middle East Regional Connectivity Operator of the Year” for delivering a fully operator-owned pan-Middle East fiber network linking key markets across the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Red Sea.

The CCGA honors achievements in the telecom wholesale industry worldwide. Winners are selected by a panel of global telecom experts from over 100 companies based on innovation, capacity, and connectivity solutions.

At the Global Brand Awards 2025, presented by UK-based Global Brands Magazine, ZOI received the title “Best New Telecom Connectivity Brand – Middle East.” These awards celebrate excellence across branding, leadership, and innovation globally.

Launched in May 2023, ZOI combines Zain Group’s regional scale with Omantel’s global infrastructure. It manages over 20 international subsea cable systems alongside expansive terrestrial reach.

Sohail Qadir, CEO of ZOI stated: “These awards reflect ZOI’s unique role as a driver for innovation in local and global connectivity. We operate the region’s highest-ranked IP network, as measured by CAIDA.”

He further commented: “ZOI’s success is driven by our unmatched ability to connect key markets and global hubs through resilient international subsea and regional terrestrial infrastructure.”

ZOI serves as a premier wholesale powerhouse in the Middle East for regional operators and international carriers. The joint venture marks a significant advancement in telecommunications by combining Zain’s retail success with Omantel’s wholesale capabilities. It manages all international wholesale requirements for operations across eight countries.
