Rose Rayhaan by Rotana in the United Arab Emirates was honored for being the “most improved hotel in sustainability practices" among 4-star hotels during the Dubai Green Tourism Award 2014 last week

The second-tallest hotel in the world, Rose Rayhaan is the flagship property of Rotana's alcohol-free Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts brand.

“Sustainability is one of our hotel’s top priorities and core business driver,” Karim Nahas, the general manager of Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, said. “We manage it in the same way we manage other aspects of the hotel and operations performance, look at sustainability from different aspects, being from the products we use, service to our guests, how we conserve energy and water, to working with our owner and corporate office to be more efficient.”

Rose Rayhaan by Rotana has reduced water usage and improved its carbon footprint. The company’s waste recycling items have increased by 20 percent while its general waste headed to landfills fell by 10 percent. Eco-friendly LED bulbs were installed on the entire hotel premises. The building façade lights also are being replaced with LED lights.

“This is a tremendous achievement for Rose Rayhaan by Rotana and I would to like to recognize the hotel team’s efforts to achieve these fantastic results and thank them for their contribution,” Nahas said. “We have our established best practices, defined policies, partnership with suppliers, and to be consistent and have an active role in making the environment a better one.”
