Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance issued the following announcement on Dec. 24.
The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) delivered the inaugural Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme, in partnership with the UK-based Chartered Governance Institute (ICSA), the global qualifying body for Chartered Secretaries and Chartered Governance Professionals. This programme marks a significant step towards Bahrain aligning the professional Governance and the Board Secretary profession with international standards.
The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme aims to provide executive development for Governance professionals who wish to ‘reach the next level’. The programme focuses on experienced candidates who wish to develop the skills needed to transition from the role of subject-matter expert to that, ultimately, of strategic Governance advisor to the board and its directors.
The BIBF Director, Dr Ahmed Al Shaikh stated, ‘As the benchmark qualification for Governance professionals worldwide, we are proud to deliver this programme for the first time in Bahrain, to address the skills gaps between the technical competencies of governance professionals, and the soft skills attributes required to operate at a senior level.’
He also added, ‘In line with the efforts of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Tourism and Economic Development Board (EDB) to improve the quality of Governance in Bahrain, the BIBF conducts Board-level training to advance professional Governance oversight and high-quality Board management.’
BIBF intends to build on the success of this inaugural programme by offering further modules from the Chartered Governance Institute to Bahrain Governance and Board Secretary professionals.
