The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently began working in tandem with the city in an effort to make it a smart city.
A smart city utilizes digital technologies to improve quality of life. To that end, the chamber has joined with Alibaba.com to provide training sessions on a range of subjects, including how to succeed, benefits of e-commerce and how to launch or expand online businesses.
Alibaba.com is a global e-commerce platform used by 40 million users worldwide. Last year, the Dubai Chamber partnered with Alibaba.com to launch www.dubaichamber.com/alibaba, a portal to offer businesses the opportunity to create new market prospects and to start selling their products and services to businesses around the world.
Two training sessions already have taken place, and another is planned for June 2 at the Dubai Chamber's head office. The session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Session participants will learn how to create an e-commerce business. The session will focus on planning, building and management, as well as the benefits of the chamber's Verified Membership and Trusted Member designations. Other topics will include ways to increase a company's visibility, gain and retain clients, and use e-trade to build a company's reputation globally.
In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the United Arab Emirates is the largest e-commerce market.
Registration for the training sessions can be done at ecommerce@dubaichamber.com.
