Qatar strikes deal with Swedish environmental tech companies

The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), a nonprofit governmental organization that promotes sustainable solutions in the Gulf region, is looking to Scandinavia to develop environmental solutions in Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Swedish venture capital group Midroc New Technology, a company that invests in groundbreaking environmental technology, has partnered with GORD to showcase the latest advancements from Scandinavia at the Qatar Science & Technology Park in Doha, Qatar.

Four companies from Midroc’s portfolio of environmental tech firms will set up examples of their products working together in one place. Among them will be new greenhouse agriculture products, living and workspace innovations.

“With resources from Qatar and technology from Midroc’s portfolio companies, we will be able to showcase new solutions that are sustainable in the long term for our planet and that are possible already today,” Göran Linder, CEO of Midroc New Technology, said.

GORD and Midroc hope the demonstrations in Doha will encourage investment in such technologies from other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The demo at the Qatar Science & Technology Park will include new products from award-winning greenhouse lighting firm Heliospectra, environmentally friendly climate control experts at Air to Air, new fuel cell technology by Powercell and solar-powered water purification from Solarwave.
