Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi officially opened late last week.
Patients will have access to treatment of acute medical conditions at the clinic designed to enhance Abu Dhabi's already cutting-edge health care system
"Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi was established with a very specific mandate, and we’ve reached a critical milestone toward supporting the government of Abu Dhabi’s vision to provide world-class health care in the Emirate," Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, chairman of the board of directors for the clinic, said. “The advanced medical expertise available at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi helps to provide an even more robust health care network in the [United Arab Emirates] and region, offering UAE nationals, residents and fly-in international patients comprehensive services in Abu Dhabi. This means that UAE-based patients can stay in the Emirate for their care, close to their families and support network. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which will have an immediate and personal impact on the people of Abu Dhabi today and for generations to come.”
The new clinic is a partnership of Mubadala Healthcare and the U.S.-based Cleveland Clinic.
“Since this journey began, we’ve had one clear focus — replicating the clinical capabilities of Cleveland Clinic to provide access to the most innovative treatments and technology, performed by physicians of the same caliber as U.S.-based Cleveland Clinic," Dr. Marc Harrison, chief executive officer of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, said.
The clinic will include a heart and vascular institute with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and vascular experts, in addition to an emergency department.
The first patients at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi were seen in March. Since then, more than 8,500 appointments have been booked and more than 5,500 patients have been seen.
