Qatar Airways celebrates 10 years to South Africa

Qatar Airlines celebrated its 10th year of flight service to both Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa on Monday.

 Since 2005, the airline has had flight service to the country with three weekly flights to Cape Town and 10 weekly flights to the capital. During a media event for the occasion, a new office was opened in Johannesburg.

“Our relationship with South Africa has developed and grown consistently since we began back in 2005, and now thanks to an ever-increasing passenger demand from passengers who value our renowned and award-winning five-star service, we look forward to another successful decade of services,” Qatar Airways Chief Operations Ofificer Marwan Koleilat said.

During this event, the airline announced that it would begin to have flight service to Durban four times a week beginning in December. According to the announcement, the new route will have business class amenities that are currently available on trips to Johannesburg and Cape Town. 

Qatar Airlines is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, it currently has flights to over 150 countries. In October 2013, the airline joined the Oneworld Global Alliance and was the first airline based on the Gulf Coast to join. The company has a fleet of over 330 aircraft.
