SEHA receives Stage 6 status for medical record technology

The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) was recently awarded the Stage 6 level on the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model, used to rate how well health care providers incorporate clinical information technology.

All 11 of SEHA’s facilities achieved the rating, making SEHA the only health care network in Asia to reach Stage 6 across the board. The highest rating on the scale is Stage 7, a rating no health facility in the Middle East has hit yet.

“I am pleased that all of SEHA’s 11 facilities have been recognized by a globally renowned organization, such as (the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), for their tremendous efforts in improving patient experience. Reaching Stage 6 is a result of focus, good direction and an unwavering commitment from leadership and the entire care team,” SEHA’s interim Chief Information Officer George Yacoub said.

Yacoub said the Stage 6 rating is more than a feather in the company’s hat – clinical information technology is making an impact on the company’s operations.

“Our staff can make more informed decisions and quickly access the information recorded for each patient at the click of a button,” Yacoub said.

The assessments from the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model look at how organizations employ advanced electronic patient records, create a paperless environment and display their capabilities in information exchange. SEHA hospitals in the UAE and Saudi Arabia use the medical information technology system designed by Cerner Millennium, an integrated clinical, medical and administrative system.
