Qatar Development Bank has launched an international tender service to help enhance the nation’s export sector and to bolster small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Qatar.
The service will give SMEs access to tenders -- the requests for bids, offers and proposals organizations put out when seeking goods or services -- from around the world.
Qatar Development Bank’s new tender service was built in cooperation with the French tender company InfoTrade 2000, considered a global leader in the field. The service from InfoTrade 2000 provides information on more than 20,000 tenders from around the world every day.
The service is part of the bank's mission to support and develop Qatar’s non-oil export sector. Bank leaders hope the new tender service will open new markets for Qatari companies.
SMEs in Qatar will have access to information on international tenders via e-mail as well as through a web portal.
Abdul Aziz Bin Nasser Al Khalifa, Qatar Development Bank’s CEO, said the bank will be the only organization in the region offering such a service.
“Companies in different regions of the world are investing to acquire such information,” Al Khalifa said. “Qatar Development Bank's strategy is to provide SMEs in Qatar with services that would help the development of the sector and the wider Qatari economy."
