LG Electronics recently presented the company’s latest OLED TV offerings at the brand’s Middle East regional launch event held in Dubai.
LG is currently the leading electronics manufacturer for OLED products. OLED stands for “Organic Light-Emitting Diode,” which is a burgeoning display technology making it possible to create ever slimmer screens, far surpassing the possibilities offered by LCD or plasma displays.
The possibility of making extremely thin, flexible screens also holds the advantage of being more energy efficient and eco-friendly.
LG’s OLED technology works by using an organic, carbon-based film placed between two conductors. Unlike LCD displays that need backlight to create an image, OLED pixels generate their own light.
The OLED screen technology also creates a true black, which enhances the color quality across the board, making LG’s OLED products some of the highest color quality products on the market.
The South Korean company’s launch event was held at Madinat Jumeirah resort in Dubai. Kevin Cha, LG’s president for the Middle East and Africa Region, said the company intends to leverage its technological edge over competitors to offer Middle Eastern customers the best in innovation, technology and design.
“The MEA region is a diverse and growing market, and LG sees huge potential here for OLED technology” Cha said. “We intend to create a new market here for the next step in the evolution of TV.”
