Africa’s top online retail store, Jumia, has launched the Infinix Hot 2 smartphone under Google’s Android One initiative for the African mobile market.
Jumia has been touting the Infinix Hot 2 online as #TheHottestOne for weeks now as the company prepared to launch in Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco and Nigeria.
The Infinix Hot 2 uses Google’s latest Android One OS. The operating system is designed to deliver up to two times better performance with a battery extension feature that gives users up to ninety minutes of extra use.
Android One smart-phones run on Android Lollipop, but unlike other phones, they automatically update to the latest version of Android.
“We are glad to be the exclusive partner in Egypt for the Google Android One project,” Hesham Safwat, CEO of Jumia Egypt, said. “It’s part of our ongoing strategy to innovate and bring the latest mobile technology to our consumers at affordable prices.”
The Infinix Hot 2 comes with dual SIM card capabilities along with two gigs of RAM and a 16 gigabyte internal memory. It also features a two megapixel front and eight megapixel rear camera.
“Google’s Android One is testament to Google’s customer-centric efforts,” Safwat said. “Android One smart-phones are poised to be customer favorite and I foresee a great demand for them. Jumia is thrilled to be in the forefront of this revolution.”
