Security solutions provider Thales was recently chosen by Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications to install an integrated security system at Salalah's new airport as well as Muscat International Airport.
Thales officials will install Master System Integrators (MSI) at both locations, including high-technology control centers with perimeter intrusion detection system, video protection system, access control, screening equipment, security check points, access and backbone network and data centers.
Thales officials will test the new technologies at the airports as well as train operators and develop new procedures.
When the Muscat International Airport's new terminal building opens, annual passenger capacity will reach 12 million. Salalah is Oman’s second largest city; its airport opened June 15 and initial annual capacity is expected to be 1 million passengers.
Thales security systems are already in use at the airports in Dubai and Doha, the new commercial port in Doha and oil and gas sites in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Iraq and Eurasia.
