The Chambers of Commerce for Qatar and Jordan recently set down a new agreement to establishing a Qatar-Jordan joint business council.
Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani signed the agreement with Nael Al Kabariti of the Jordan Chamber on the sidelines of the recent Gulf-Jordan Economic Forum.
The new joint business council aims to enhance the economic cooperation between financial institutions, businesses and government agencies on both sides of the agreement.
The new council also will aim to exchange information and experience in commercial and marine arbitration, intellectual property and patents between the nations.
Representatives from the two Chambers of Commerce agreed to organize periodic meetings between both parties in order to discuss topics of mutual business interest.
At its first meeting, the new council determined the most vital economic sectors where cooperation could see benefits for both nations.
The council’s first meeting also produced recommendations to establish a joint-stock company focusing on the sectors of mutual interest, exchange visits among businessmen every six months and issuing a monthly bulletin for exchanging the latest developments on the council activities.
Nael Al Kabariti, the Jordan Chamber chairman, affirmed that Qatari investments in Jordan are more than welcome for both governmental and private institutions, stressing that this forum represents Arabic consolidation in all economic fields.
