The French business facilitation company Naseba will host the seventh Cyber Defense Summit in Doha Sunday and Monday, with hundreds of technology officers are expected to attend.
The summit will serve as a high-level platform for business leaders to share knowledge, network with peers and consult leading cyber security solution and service providers.
Considering the recent surge in cyberattacks, protection of critical networks and information has become a major global concern.
From being featured in the U.N. General Assembly meeting to leaders in India, the U.S. and Singapore talking about it, cyber security is starting to top the agenda of national and regional priorities.
Qatar is no different as it sees cyber security as one of the three grand challenges alongside energy and water security. A significant portion of the country's spending on information and communications technology is allocated toward developing proactive cyber security and upgrading existing infrastructure and capabilities. Recent developments such as Qatar's National Cyber Security Strategy and the establishment of a National Cyber Security Center have been received positively.
One of the key aspects of these efforts and initiatives is knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
Addressing the 120 plus chief information officers and chief information security officers attending the summit will be senior representatives from organizations and companies including the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, Qatar Foundation, Qatar University, Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil and Doha Bank.
