Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) recently announced the establishment of an independent Employment Standards Office (ESO) that previously operated under the legal department and now is the statutory compliance office for businesses it registers.
The office seeks to protect both employers and employees in complying with robust regulations, codes and procedures. Its objectives include ensuring fair treatment of employers and employees, encouraging communication between team members, facilitating dispute resolution, and developing a productive QFC work force.
"The ESO is an important part of the QFC 's foundations,"
QFC Chief Executive Officer Yousuf Al-Jaida said. "By establishing it as an independent entity, we are further ensuring that all QFC employees and licensed firms work in a transparent environment where they are treated fairly and are encouraged to resolve disputes amicably."
In addition to administrating and enforcing QFC employment regulations, the ESO also works closely with the labor ministry to provide relevant information related to employees working under the QFC. Simultaneously, the ESO gathers information about Qataris who work at the QFC to identify trends in the Qatari labor market.
