The Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) signed a memo of understanding this week with Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN) to work in tandem to create a corporate incubator for digital media and technology businesses.

The goal is to build on both entities' success in entrepreneurship and digital media by collaborating on innovation and knowledge sharing.

The QBIC is one of the largest specialized mixed-use business incubators in the Middle East, empowering entrepreneurs to start and grow companies by incubating, developing, connecting and investing in small companies that are developing new products and methods.

As one of the world's largest and most innovative media brands, Al Jazeera's Innovation and Incubation team will provide strategic media expertise to companies working with the  QBIC.

In turn, Al Jazeera will benefit from new knowledge gained from working with innovative new businesses and expertise. That will help the media company form new strategic digital projects while having first-hand knowledge of technological innovations in the sector.

Al Jazeera Executive Director Yaser Bishr said the company is investing heavily in research and innovation to shape newly emerging digital media around the world.

“This strategic relationship with QBIC will help us seed feasible businesses in the nascent media economy and allow Al Jazeera to play an active role in Qatar's efforts to build a knowledge-based economy," Bishr said.
